INVENTION. COMMUNICATION. AN ART IN ITSELF

The Musée L now stands in Science Square (place des Sciences), at the heart of the former Library of Science and Technology (Bibliothèque des Sciences et Technologies).

The new University museum, opened in autumn 2017 in an entirely renovated building, is the largest university museum in Belgium, with more than 4100 m2 accessible to the public. What makes it special? The link between the works of art, the unique scientific collections from the UCLouvain and 3 labs where the public can even touch the works of art. There are works of art there, but more than that: it also exhibits scientific collections from the UCLouvain.

The main aim of the artwork study laboratory is to study the museum’s paintings in order to learn more about them, in association for certain cases with preventative conservation projects. The idea is, in the medium term, to link this tool with a knowledge-exchange policy between the museums of Wallonia and beyond.

Definitely a must-see !
